LINKED ABC
LINKED ABC
Linked ABC, short for Linked Artists' Books Collections, is a project that converts bibliographic information of artist book collections into Linked Open Data to create a digital archive.
LOD is a method of publishing and connecting structured data on the web. Linked ABC integrates information about artists’ books’ scattered across various institutions using LOD, creating a more comprehensive and consistent dataset.
This approach enhances metadata standardization and improves interoperability, allowing a wider range of stakeholders from relevant institutions, artists, and collectors to easily find and utilize materials related to these works. Furthermore, it connects artists’ books with related works, artists, and socio-political and historical resources, focusing on meaningful relationships. This provides rich contextual information about the artworks.

By leveraging LOD, Linked ABC aims to create a unified platform for artists’ books information, improve accessibility and discoverability of these unique art objects, facilitate interdisciplinary research and collaboration, enhance the understanding of artists’ books in their broader cultural and historical contexts, and contribute to the development of digital curation methodologies in visual culture studies.
